Research - Michael Buble CD Covers

As we are now quite far into the planning stages of our music video, it is important that we begin to research for the other tasks of which we have to do - the CD Cover and Poster of our music video. Since we now know our song for our music video - Michael Buble's 'Crazy Love', it is important to look at some of the CD Covers and Posters of his work in order to get an idea of type of style is necessary to fit with the genre. While we have looked at some CD Covers of artists, we have nor yet looked at any of Michael Buble's. By doing this we will have a better of chance of appealing to the different sub-groups of our audience.

Below are examples of some of the CD Covers of Michael Buble's albums:

One of the CD Covers that I looked at was Michael Buble's 'Call me Irresponsible'. From looking at this, some similarities were noticeable in terms of the theme of his music videos. For instance, in his music video 'Feeling Good' colours such as blue, black and white, have a certain prominence, of which can also be seen in the CD Cover. I think those colours in the case of 'Feeling Good' can be seen as trying to keep the James Bond style image that the video follows.  This is based around the idea of sleekness, professionalism and emotion, of which are also common characteristics of Michael Buble's music. In terms of stance and expression, Buble is shown as quite reserved and sad, which reinforces the idea behind the choice of colour. The aspects could collectively connote to his audience that maybe the tracks on this CD will be very emotional, and that this is the way he wants them to be interpreted.

Another of the CD Covers I looked was the cover for his CD 'haven't met you yet'. In a similar way to his CD 'call me irresponsible', the choice of colours can give us an indication as to what mood the music will follow. The light blue colours, in contrast to the black and white, could again represent sadness and hint that the music will be of a deeper meaning. In addition, Michael Buble, as in the 'call me irresponsible' cover, is shown in a suit. This again fits the serious, professional theme that is seen throughout many of his videos, where he also wears a suit often, and connotes again that he wants his music to be taken seriously. This is important to take into account as we will have to think of what mood we want to connote when making our CD cover
